Leigh has operational rope access experience spanning the last 25 years, completing projects across a range of industries around the world. Although predominantly based in Australia, he is heavily engaged in the international rope access sector through his involvement with IRATA International, having undertaken projects across America, Europe, Asia, Middle East, and New Zealand.
Leigh has extensive knowledge in the development and implementation of rope access systems, including human resources management; equipment selection, advice, training and inspection; creation and implementation of rope access specific policies and procedures; and development of risk assessment methodologies through to their practical implementation (such as SWMS and pre-start talk processes).
Leigh’s achievements over the past decade have been a culmination of his commitment to IRATA and passion for the industry. In particular, the implementation and global presentation of the IRATA Training, Assessment and Certification Scheme (TACS) whilst Training Chairman for IRATA International (2012-2015), as well as the facilitation of six IRATA Assessor courses around the world as Lead Trainer (2013-2019).
Most recently, through his desire to capture the lost stories of rope access technicians and share his industry knowledge with others, Leigh has established the Podcast channel Rope Access Tips, Tricks and Chats (RATTAC). Hosting weekly episodes since March 2020, Leigh’s podcasts are both informative and educational, with a little bit of Leigh Greenwood humour thrown in!
